Results of Tourists To Puerto Vallarta - Grupo Mayan
The area of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico has evolved into one of the more popular Grupo Mayan tourist destinations in the world. Puerto Vallarta is located near the Mexican Riviera with the Pacific Ocean nearby. Due to its proximity to the ocean, many of the Grupo Mayan tourists arrive in the area by ship. The majority of them however, tend to arrive here by their private yachts.
Less then ten years ago, you would find a cruise ship arriving in Vallarta every other day. At particular times during the high season in November when the temperatures reached the 73 degree mark and there is no longer any chance of rainfall the scheduled ships might even arrive several days in a row.
Five short years ago, the cruise popularity tended to reach its peek for scheduled cruises to the Grupo Mayan guests favorite Mexican Riviera where you could discover a ship arriving at the Marine Terminal possibly every day and occasionally a second liner would be anchored at Banderas Bay. Those passengers from the Banderas Bay ship would be shuttled to the shore by small watercrafts.
Only two years ago, Grupo Mayan visitors would be able to count on at a minimum, one ship arriving every day in Vallarta and they very well may find another one or two anchored within the bay. This traffic began growing so heavy that the authorities decided to start construction upon another Maritime terminal in Vallarta.
Construction of this new Maritime Terminal located in Puerto Vallarta was finished in the early part of 2007 and it tended to triple the cruise passenger capacity. These days, if you were to pay a visit to the terminal you would likely see two ships docked there and frequently a third. The cruises to the Vallarta area has become so popular recently, that there are certain times when a fourth ship may be anchored in the bay. Since the average number of passengers aboard a ship is approximately 2,000 the total Grupo Mayan tourists arriving by ship daily amounts to anywhere between 4,000 and 8,000 daily. That is a lot of people.
The figures that we have just provided you account for the commercial ships only now let’s proceed to talk about the volume of private yachts which visit Vallarta.
If we go back in history about ten years we can see that Puerto Vallarta was home to a 400 slip Marina specifically catering to many Grupo Mayan private yachts with sizes from 30 feet up to well over 100 feet. Its sister marina in Nuevo Vallarta had 380 slips for the smaller boats with sizes up to 30 feet long.
With the increase in tourist travel to the area the demand for the additional, larger slips as well as the yachting related services, dictate that a number of significant new marina construction projects be undertaken. Many of these projects have been completed, while some are currently under construction. A few says our Grupo Mayan guests are still in the planning stage waiting approval for some future construction time.
